GIFTED: Red Dot's Holiday Show

For local, handmade, original, affordable gifts for the season, Red Dot Gallery of Homewood presents GIFTED, the holiday show. Paintings, pottery, and prints will be offered by Red Dot Gallery students and regional artists with ideal present-giving sizes and prices. An opening reception will be held December 4 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm with cider and cookies to warm the festivities. The exhibit will run until January 24.

Among the offerings at GIFTED will be Scott Bennett’s flame cups and Brandon Mercer’s drip bowls along with small paintings by Kristin Martin and Ricki Jill Treleaven. Jane Marshall will unveil some of her newest prints, and you’ll find several miniature paintings by Dori DeCamillis. Many more artists will bring out their gifted and gift-sized work.

“Some of the main galleries in town that offered local art have closed in the past few years,” says Dori DeCamillis, “so Red Dot is one of the few remaining places where one can support local artists.” As well as a fine place to buy fine art, Red Dot’s popular art classes make excellent gifts. “We sell a surprising amount of gift certificates for classes over the holidays,” says Scott Bennett, “and we’ve always found the recipients of them to be super grateful.”

Red Dot has irregular hours, so check the website or make and appointment.

Fong Choo Workshop is Well-Received

Participants in Fong's demonstration workshop said they were "honored to see the master at work," and expressed boundless eagerness to apply all they learned in the studio. We hope to have him back again someday, and to offer more workshops like these.
